To many, the word “Resistance” might mean marching, protesting, or shouting – But for the Resistance Revival Chorus, it means singing. The 60-plus member group, made up of women and non-binary people from all backgrounds, has been performing uplifting and empowering music for the past four years. And now, they’ve released their debut album, featuring protest classics as well as original songs – It’s called This Joy. The group’s musical director, Abena Koomson-Davis, along with chorus member Alba Ponce De Leon, share how the chorus originated and how they use their voices to make change. That’s coming up, on the next World Cafe with host Raina Douris.
