It’s the Hackensaw Boys on the Next World Cafe – Thursday at 2pm

HacknsawWorld Cafe continues its Sense of Place trip to Charlottesville, Virginia with the Hackensaw Boys. They've been part of the sound of Charlottesville for over 20 years, and that sound is pretty unique…We'll hear a live performance, featuring their homemade instrument, called the “charismo,” and founding member David Sickmen shares about the time he traded a car for an upright bass. Then, music photographer and author, Rich Tarbell, takes us on a historical tour of Charlottesville’s music scene…From the “Mad Bowl” on UVA’s campus, to Miller’s jazz bar, where Dave Matthews bartended and recruited musicians.
