The newly launched M.F.K. Fisher Foundation is the topic of this moving episode of Savoring Sonoma. The organizational effort is designed to elevate and maintain the legacy of this world renowned, beloved and long time local author and writer. Allison Goodwin knows what it means to be worried about feeding her family. As a mother of five (she wanted a third child but ended up with triplets!) she has more than empathy for what it takes to get through life. Her studies and work in early childhood development prepared her well for her role as President and CEO of the extremely well regarded and connected organization called the Redwood Empire Food Bank. Over a hundred partners, thousands of volunteers and a vast array of families served makes for a lot of valuable work, especially in the current political climate and holiday season. Daisy Damskey, née Frances Dale George, shares her country and worldwide crisscross of a life and career that brought her to Geyserville in partnership with her award winning wine growing and making husband Kerry Damskey and their family wine label Palmeri Wines. Her education and work in early childhood education, extensive community engagement and volunteering and active efforts on behalf of her communities and our own Public Media are a reflection of a deep and committed family history of so many good efforts that the light she brings to every project comes as no surprise, but is always a joy. Margo True may have started what continues to be a remarkable career at the age of seven when she became enamored with a glossy magazine called Gourmet. Years later she worked at that very title and did significant stints at Savour, our beloved Sunset Magazine and, remarkably, Patagonia, the clothing and gear folks who sell some very special foods. Today she’s the Editorial Director of Civil Eats, a platform that came to be as the result of a magical weekend in San Francisco called Slow Food Nation. There’s history, culture, public policy and a good deal more, with host Clark Wolf.
