Carol Rathmann developed and has directed Forget Me Not Farm since its beginnings in 1992.
With more than 35 years of experience in humane education and animal welfare, Rathmann holds a master's degree in psychology with studies focused on the benefits of animal assisted and horticultural therapy to child victims of abuse and neglect. Rathmann is also certified as a Specialist in Animal Assisted Activities and Therapy.
Her son, Nathan first worked as a volunteer at Forget Me Not Farm during his senior year of high school. He has since completed his undergraduate degree at the University of California Santa Cruz and worked for San Francisco Animal Care and Control before taking on the Farm manager position in 2005. Nathan is now Director of Operations for the Farm.
The Farm's flagship program nurtures relationships between children, animals, and gardens.
Since its inception, Forget Me Not Farm has helped thousands of at-risk children and youth break the cycle of abuse.
The Rathmanns talk about all this and more with Clark Wolf on Savoring Sonoma: The Hour.
