Samantha Fish Samantha Fish taught herself guitar at a very young age with the help of her father and as she grew up the blues scene in her hometown of Kansas City embraced her. She didn’t see many women playing lead as a kid – she has carved her own path as one of the few making a name for herself there. She talks about that, plays live and shares how she translates her music from the studio to the stage.

Stories of people who are tied together, but imagine radically different futures. In one case, a movie star and her ex-husband plot against Kim Jong-Il. In another, a woman stalks her doppleganger. And sometimes, one bed is the basis for an entire relationship, even for a man who almost never sees the person who shares his bed.

The great Texas river city is a mix of Mexican, German, Anglo and African American cultures, among others. Home to the Texas Conjunto Festival and the International Accordion Festival, San Antonio is best known for Tex-Mex or Tejano music played by squeeze box masters like Flaco Jimenez, Narciso Martinez and Mingo Saldivar among many. We'll speak with Flaco, who in collaborations with Doug Sahm, Ry Cooder, and Los Super Seven, has carried the music worldwide. "Chicano brown-eyed soul" performers like Sunny and the Sunliners and other groups describe music that connected New Orleans and Louisiana Swamp Pop with San Antonio and East Los Angeles. We'll also talk with Vox organ legend Augie Meyers who worked in the high hippie era with Doug Sahm as part of the Sir Douglas Quintet and later in the Texas Tornadoes. The conversation comes full circle with Max Baca, the leader and bajo sexto player of Los Texmaniacs who was influenced by both Flaco and Doug Sahm. The Grammy-winning family band sticks with tradition, but finds ways to include country, blues and rock. Plus music from Sam the Sham, Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys, Freddy Fender and Willie Nelson. Vamos!

From the srcschools website:
Dear Santa Rosa City Schools Community,
With careful consideration of many factors, the Board of Education and I have made the difficult decision to suspend site-based learning in Santa Rosa City Schools through April 5th, and to provide student assignments to be completed at home. In summary:
This decision was made in collaboration with the Sonoma County Department of Health Services (DHS) and the Sonoma County Office of Education. We are implementing these measures to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 (coronavirus) through social distancing. It is important to note that there are currently no known cases of COVID-19 among our students or staff. This decision allows our community to “flatten the curve” and reduces community spread of the virus.
Instruction
Students will remain at home. Your individual schools will be providing instructional materials online and in paper format. Your principal will be providing more detailed information about the process of delivering and returning these materials. Your teacher (s) and principal will be working during the school closure from a safe location to continue to provide student assignments throughout the closure. Of course, students are not required to complete work during Spring Break, March 16-20. Please be patient as this process begins. Your educators will contact your students as soon as possible.
Meals
We are working with community partners, under the guidance of the state, to provide meals to students during this unprecedented crisis. The following sites will provide, for all children under the age of 18, a drive-thru / carry-out lunch service from 11:30 am - 1:00 pm Monday through Friday, beginning Monday, March 23 (after Spring Break):
Elsie Allen High School 599 Bellevue Ave |
Lincoln Elementary 850 W 9th St |

Piner High School 1700 Fulton Rd |
Santa Rosa Middle 500 E St |
Lewis Education Center 2230 Lomitas Ave |
Burbank Elementary 203 SA St |
Brook Hill Elementary 1850 Vallejo St |
You may pick up lunch from any school for your convenience. Your child does not need to attend one of the listed schools to receive lunch but must be present when picking up lunch.

Surveillance Capitalism is a global architecture of behavior modification which poses profound threats to society. It was invented at Google, duplicated at Facebook, and has moved almost seamlessly into virtually every economic sector. Vast wealth is accumulated in an ominous new economic order where predictions of our behavior are bought and sold. Surveillance Capitalism has ominous consequences for democracy and humanity in the 21st century. It is based on extreme inequalities of knowledge and power. It claims human experience as a free source of raw material and challenges our autonomy and social solidarity. Our minds are being mined and harvested for data and are being fundamentally changed in the process. Surveillance Capitalism is a business model that Shoshana Zuboff says seeks growth by cataloguing our “every move, emotion, utterance and desire.”
Shoshana Zuboff is professor emerita at the Harvard Business School. She is the author of In the Age of the Smart Machine and The Age of Surveillance Capitalism.
