After a time studying guitar, he went to Las Vegas as a teenager and began a career as a professional card player. He was soon known as the world’s fastest card counter. Banned from casinos on six continents, he still calls this the “only real job he’s ever had.” In 1996, Darryl began to tour nationally as a solo singer/songwriter. Eight years, six CDs and a thousand shows later, he was headlining the top folk venues and festivals across North America. We visited with Darryl in front of a live audience at the Art of the Song Coffeehouse in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Listen to Art of the Song with hosts John Dillon and Viv Nesbit every Thursday night at 11:00 pm on KRCB-FM Radio 91!
