Editor's Note: On April 25, Kaiser CEO Bernard Tyson met with the Brown family and Shirlee Zane, and with several others seeking improvements in Kaiser's mental health services. Shirlee Zane describes that meeting.On April 17 in Oakland, families and supporters will be rallying at noon at the headquarters of Kaiser Permanente. The demonstration is organized by the National Union of Healthcare Workers, four months after they pulled thousands of mental health workers off the job to call attention to deficits in Kaiser's mental health services.

Among the family members who have been fighting to improve Kaiser's mental health care is Sonoma County supervisor Shirlee Zane. Her husband Peter Kingston died by suicide after receiving what Zane says was intermittent and unacceptable mental health care from Kaiser. We talked with her by phone on April 17:
