Stem Cell ResearchProposition 14 would allocate $5.5 billion dollars to the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine, a statewide stem cell research and therapy funding institute. Proponents say this funding will advance research on cancer, Alzheimer's, HIV and other disease. Opponents say the institution lacks oversight, and that during a statewide deficit this money should be spent instead on health care, housing and other pressing needs.
