Adventurous artists continued to push the envelope throughout the late 80s, ushering in a golden era for independent labels that continued into the mid 90s. Many of the bands who “grew up” with releases on independent labels were suddenly being snatched up by the majors. Galaxie 500, Feedtime, The Suburbs, Minor Threat, Fugazi, They Might Be Giants, Yo La Tengo, Pavement, Bettie Serveert, Guided By Voices, Nirvana, King Missile, Bongwater, Royal Trux, and more.
