One bird you’ll hear around parts of Sonoma County in the summer is the Pacific-slope Flycatcher. They arrive in spring and migrate back to Mexico in the fall. Pacific-slope Flycatchers like wooded areas along creeks and in canyons. Places with flowing streams and open canopy where they can catch flying insects. But you’re more likely to hear the Pacific-slope Flycatcher before you see it! Once you learn their song it’s easy to recognize. So, next time you’re relaxing in the shade by a creek and sipping lemonade on a hot summer’s day in Sonoma County, keep an ear out for the Pacific-slope Flycatcher!
