The sounds of nature can be soothing. Like here on the banks of the Russian River, at Riverfront Regional Park in Windsor. It’s been raining steadily the last few days, and the banks are full. As one stands here the big wide Russian River moves from right to left. A Bewick's Wren sings from the bank, a little further upstream. An American Crow calls from somewhere in the trees across the water. And a Red-shouldered Hawk is heard above. The real power of quietude is that it can speak so deeply to our hearts. Like in this moment on the Russian River, on a rainy winter’s day.
