                              The wildfires throughout the Bay Area have brought great destruction, and presented a set of unique challenges to our communities. Employment, housing, municipal services, and disaster relief are now at the top of the agenda and in the forefront of our civic discussion. Northern California Public Media provides continuing coverage of our regions’ search for resiliency.

Yesterday we heard from new Board of Supervisors Chair James Gore speaking at a Town Hall on fire recovery Saturday morning.

Today, news director Steve Mencher brings us back to the meeting – where we’ll hear from Mark Ghilarducci, head of the California Office of Emergency Services.

Ghilarducci was the face of the state during the fire crisis, and earned high marks for his clear communication – and commitment. He took time off from marshaling forces in Southern California fighting to clear the mudslides there, to answer questions from fire survivors in our region.

Homeowners whose insured homes were damaged or destroyed in the October 2017 wildfires are invited to attend a Roadmap to Recovery™ workshop presented by United Policyholders, a non-profit consumer organization helping disaster survivors for over 25 years.
