Beginning as a youngster in the Rising Star Fife and Drum band with Otha Turner, Boyce is often noted as a protege of blues icon and fellow Como-native Mississippi Fred McDowell. In 2017, his album “Roll and Tumble” was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Blues Album. Listen to R. Beginning as a youngster in the Rising Star Fife and Drum band with Otha Turner, Boyce is often noted as a protege of blues icon and fellow Como-native Mississippi Fred McDowell. In 2017, his album “Roll and Tumble” was nominated for a GRAMMY for Best Traditional Blues Album. Listen to R.
