Join us as we explore a beloved local tradition: LUMACON. Organized by the Libraries of Petaluma (including Petaluma Regional Library, Casa Grande and Petaluma High School libraries), this annual event has spent over a decade fostering a love for manga, graphic novels, and comics. Taking place on January 31st at the Petaluma Community Center, LUMACON offers a unique twist on the standard comic convention. Instead of focusing on autographs and actors, the day is dedicated to hands-on fun and artistic expression. We discuss the lineup of activities for kids—from art stations and mask crafting to live action role-playing games (LARP) and a cosplay contest—and look at how this event empowers the next generation of creators.
