Once upon a time, I took a bus load of tourism ambassadors on an adventure to go gather wild mushrooms. We were taken by a wonderful local chef and we went to a secret place that they only knew. I expected us to have to be blindfolded because it was on somebody's private property. And after rummaging around, we ended up with 17 pounds of chanterelle. 17 pounds of golden chanterelle.
If you've ever foraged or you ever spent money on that, you know the treasure, the gold that we got from those mushrooms. This is the start of mushroom seasons. Please know what you're doing and only eat the safe ones, but boy, do we have a range of delicious when it comes to fungus? Savoring Sonoma, I'm Clark Wolf for KRCB.
