The Human Voice Show features vocal groups, with the accent on acappella (= not accompanied by instruments) ensembles of many styles and eras.
The typical show includes: Jazz (Take 6, Manhattan Transfer, The Hi-Lo’s, Singers Unlimited)…Doo-wop (Persuasions, Ravens)…Contemporary (Pentatonix, House Jacks, Home Free)…Classical (Chanticleer, Voces 8)… and early pop groups such as Mills Bros., Boswell Sisters, Four Freshmen, and Ink Spots.
Accompanied or not, if the cut features great vocal harmonies, it’s fair game! Plus, the occasional seasonal or topical comedy artists, such as Smothers Brothers, Martin Mull, or Chordiac Arrest!
Host Phil DeBar is a proud barbershop quartet singer, and voice teacher who also has professional classical and jazz ensemble credits.
