Monte Rio Rec & Park District's Nick Thayer put in motion the first ever Monte Rio Transhumance Festival which brought over 300 goats to work on reducing fire fuels on the property. The process involved moving over 40 of them across the Monte Rio Bridge. A partnership with the Gold Ridge Resource Conservation District, Wild Oat Hollow, and Chasin Goat Grazing provided the service at no cost to the community - along with an exciting day for all who came to watch the event, including the students from Monte Rio School.
