"We learned that to help animals we should plant trees to give them nice habitat," said Sam, 2nd grader at Loma Vista Elementary in Novato. 

The site under restoration is slated to become part of Sonoma County's regional park system, allowing students like Sam to return and visit the trees they've planted.
