My name is David Plesha. My wife and I own and operate West County Community Farm, just a few blocks from downtown Sebastopol. We are a diversified vegetable farm primarily for a community-supported agriculture program.Maybe the unique thing about our models is based on the early CSA models or the early
CSA farms in New England and Europe where people sign up for a share of the harvest before we even seed and then return. They get a share of the harvest. Right now, we're at the nadir of our season. Yeah, it's raining. We're about to get an atmospheric river coming through here. Our crew is buttoning up the last things in our greenhouse and in our barn for a two-week holiday break. So, the rain is falling. About 10 of our 11 acres are in cover crop, which we plant from September through November to hold the soil and then we mow it in the spring and till it into the ground and it it's like a green manure.
