Melissa Villaseñor shares her love for Queen, Celine Dion and No Doubt on this episode.
Courtesy of the ArtistEvery Saturday night, Melissa Villaseñor is part of one of the most talked about television shows in history. She's in her fourth season as a cast member of Saturday Night Live, a show that's often the topic of conversation online and around the office water cooler (if any of those still exist) almost as soon as the credits roll.
The young Latina and California native is also a very talented vocalist. Villaseñor's comedic talents are matched by her voice on Dreamer, her debut album released in October, a deeply emotional exploration of life, love and the self. She has a dedication to craft and a deeply resonating, old-school vocal instrument perfectly suited for the slow-burn R&B and pop gems assembled.
On this show, Villaseñor cracks me up with spot-on musical impressions of Christina Aguilera and Britney Spears, but I was especially charmed by an artist seemingly at the top of her form as a comedian, vocalist and even as an illustrator; each artistic endeavor reflects an expansive imagination and boundless creativity. It's going to be a joy to watch Melissa Villaseñor's talents continue to refine and mature.
We start 2020 and Alt.Latino's ten-year anniversary by welcoming back Jasmine Garsd for this conversation with Villaseñor. We hope to have her in the co-host seat lots more this year, even if she does revert back to lovingly busting my chops. -- Felix Contreras
