Live concerts have come to a complete stop during quarantine, of course, and so has that income. Online sales of recordings have picked up a little bit, especially when Bandcamp waived its revenue fees. That helps.
Last month, I talked with Enrique Chi (Making Movies), Davíd Garza and Rocio Marron about the economic challenges of being an independent musician during the coronavirus crisis. On this week's episode, we all catch up and dig a little more into their own circumstances to be creative and generate a little income, from Chi's virtual songwriting camp and Garza's visual art to Marron's studio session work and virtual recitals for her students.
We'll keep talking. The world will undoubtedly change by then and we'll see how they have adapted, yet again, next month.
