National Weather Service digital precipitation forecast for California and
the U.S. southwest at 4 P.M. on November 3, 2025.
Rain and strong winds are blowing into Sonoma County over the next 48 hours.
High winds in November are a cause of concern in the North Bay, especially during dry years.
National Weather Service meteorologist Ryan Walburn said this time, "the wind with this storm is going to come with rain."
"So that obviously completely erases any fire weather concerns," Walburn said.
The rainstorm forecast for Sonoma County is expected to deliver between one and two inches in total.
While the risk of fire is gone, residents and drivers near wooded areas should be cautious.
The National Weather Service has issued a wind advisory, starting at 10 PM on Tuesday.
Walburn said it's likely to cause some localized damage.
"Expect the strongest winds again during those overnight hours of Tuesday into early Wednesday," Walburn said. "[With] southerly winds with gusts in the 50 mile an hour range. So these first storms of the year usually have a tendency to bring down some of the smaller trees and branches that might be drought stressed, or just a little bit weak from the...summer heat."
Walburn said the strongest wind period is forecast between midnight Tuesday, and midday Wednesday.
National Weather Service forecasters have also issued a coastal flood advisory for later this week, one Walburn says is thanks to one of the bigger tidal cycles heading into the winter.
"During the periods of high tide, you can have some of the minor coastal flooding; Sonoma that would be out on the coast, and down near the bay," Walburn said.
The coastal flood advisory goes into effect 8AM Tuesday morning, until 2PM Friday afternoon.
The latest forecast has rain arriving mainly after 10 PM Tuesday.
