Firefighters, law enforcement and others working to evacuate residents were all on the scene as the Glass fire made a fast run toward the city of Santa Rosa on Sunday night. Also out during those late hours was Erik Castro, a freelance photojournalist. Castro recently spoke to KRCB News Director Adia White about his experience. He says he first got the call from an editor at the Press Democrat at 1:30 that morning. He was asked to go to the Veterans Memorial Building, where hundreds of seniors had been evacuated with no place to go.
