We spoke with the CEO of the Sonoma County Fair, Becky Bartling, Wednesday afternoon. She provided details on the decision by the fair's board of directors to cancel the event for the first time since World War II. The decision will have ripple effects on the county's economy and spirit.

Bartling was particularly concerned for the young people whose hard work throughout the year raising livestock is a focus of their lives. She said the fair will work with them to help process the livestock.
Bartling herself has volunteered to take a significant pay cut, which she feels is only fair in the current environment.
