Crowds cheered loud and long Thursday afternoon at the Petaluma Boulevard Cinemas for the live broadcast of the Little League World Series game between the Petaluma and Fairfield, Conn, in which Petaluma squeezed out a 6-4 win.
Proceeds from ticket sales and some concessions will go toward a travel fund for the families of Little League players to help with the steep travel costs. Petaluma resident and member of the Petaluma National Little League Board, Andre Davis, says the outpouring of community support is what makes the area special. The team has met their fundraising goal and, with hearty thanks, say they no longer need donations.
Former Petaluma Little League player Jonny Gomes, now in the major leagues with the Oakland A’s, caught the game along with other team members.
