William Meese uploaded a new media, Bay Area Bountiful: Preparing for Fire - Bay Area Fire Marshals
2 years ago
We spoke with three Bay Area fire chiefs from Cal Fire to learn more on how to best prepare ourselves, our homes and our communities for California's now year-round wildfire season. Jessica Power, a fire marshal with the Petaluma Fire Department, Tonya Talavera, a fire marshal with the Milpitas Fire Department, and Eric Govan, a fire marshal with the Richmond Fire Department, are all board members and fire prevention officers for the Northern California district for the California Fire Chiefs Association. They advised us on the best preparedness practices for the on-going fire season. California residents can take prevention measures in and around their homes in order to stay prepared for the next potential fire event by doing their due diligence with creating defensible spaces around their properties, practicing fire safety drills, preparing a go-bag, and signing up for alert systems.
