Finding Solutions to Homelessness: Bridging the Disconnect between Service Providers and the Business Community

In Guerneville, California, the banks of the Russian River have become a gathering place for those facing homelessness. The homeless population in Guerneville is four times the per capita rate of San Francisco, and three times the national average. A winter shelter program exists at the local Veteran’s Hall, but there is no shelter is offered during the rest of the year. Encampments along the river are increasing in number and tension is building in the town.
