Before the North Bay fires, Sonoma County was in a housing crisis. After the fires – the crisis has become an ongoing catastrophe.
Several dozen people met Monday evening at Christ Church United Methodist in Santa Rosa to talk about the fire’s effects on renters and the homeless. This "conversation around the fire" was sponsored by the Green Party, the Peace and Justice Center and the Community Action Coalition.
Kendall Jarvis of Sonoma County Legal Aid provided answers to some frequently asked questions about renters’ rights.
More "conversations around the fire" are coming. Conversation two (Dec. 11) is on living in a fire ecology; conversation three (in January) is an introduction to disaster capitalism with local examples.
