Now that California is collecting billions of dollars from greenhouse gas emitters, some of that money is being directed to programs that help farms and dairies reduce their carbon footprints.

  But while additional funds are being sought, the entire program’s future is uncertain.

     In the initial years of cap & trade funds disbursement, the state Department of Food and Agriculture has launched three programs sought by the California Climate and Agriculture Network. Executive Director Renata Brillinger runs them down, beginning with the one known as SWEEP—the State Water Efficiency Enhancement Program.
