American Arts and Crafts Masters: Gustav Stickley and Charles and Henry Greene
History Museum of Sonoma County presents its annual Artistry in Wood exhibit.
American Arts and Crafts was a decorative arts movement that developed from the 1880s through 1920. Its style is still popular among woodworkers today because of its emphasis on craftsmanship. Gustav Stickley and Charles and Henry Greene are the best known American masters of this style and time period. Michael Wallace will give a talk on the style and the masters' designs and works, with a focus on furniture.
Michael Wallace is a amateur woodworker and would-be historian. Michael has an MS degree from Drexel University and a lifelong commitment to understanding things. A resident of Sebastopol for the last 18 years, Michael swears he was born in New Jersey but you can’t tell from his accent.
General admission applies. Museum members and children 12 & under are free.
